cannot download file from web browser, only download the php file

the changes you need to make are in your httpd.conf
( e.g. /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf )

you need to ensure that you have the Addtype lines such as :

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 .php .phtml

once modified, 'apachectl restart' to reload apache and give it another test.
